What I’m Into
Reading
Seven Drafts by Allison K. Williams
I’m a sucker for a good book on writing. Having attended a couple of Allison Williams’s webinars, I thought the book would be great, and it hasn’t disappointed.
Diavola: A Novel by Jennifer Thorne
Can’t put it down. Living that Anna’s conflict.
Listening
My Brilliant Career by Miles Franklin
Free to listen to on LibriVox. Having watched the entertaining mini-series on Netflix, I had to listen to the book. An Australian novelist and suffragist, Franklin, writes beautifully and poignantly about her country and the lives of her fellow countrywomen in the early twentieth century.
Dark Maps by Aquatic Lights
Originally from Oklahoma, the band, Aquatic Lights, was recommended by a friend, and the Dark Maps soundtrack is perfect for my writing playlist. A great way to get in the zone. Find them on Spotify, YouTube, and on their website: Aquatic Lights Band.
Watching
Widow’s Bay on Apple TV
Matthew Rhys, a haunted island—a modern Lovecraft-style tale with humor.
Looking Forward To
Practical Magic 2
In theaters September 11th. Can’t wait. I have all four books in hardback and can’t find them to re-read. Making me crazy.
Queen Budapest
October 7th and 8th in IMAX theaters. Two days only. The first band to play a stadium concert behind the Iron Curtain—July 1986, this Queen concert was filmed by Hungarian filmmakers and has been remastered in 4K. Part of the Magic Tour, it is one of Queen’s last performances with the four original members: Freddie, John, Brian, and Roger.
